Tariq Lamptey set to be a free agent as Brighton contract nears expiration

Ghana international Tariq Lamptey will become a free agent on June 30, 2025, after his contract with Brighton and Hove Albion expires.

The 24-year-old defender joined Brighton from Chelsea in 2020 and established himself as a key player under former manager Roberto De Zerbi.

With no contract renewal talks yet, Lamptey is expected to leave the Seagulls after five years. Currently sidelined with a knee injury, he will miss Brighton’s final Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur.

Lamptey was forced off with the injury in the previous game against Wolves, and this will be his second consecutive missed match.

The defender’s season was limited to 15 Premier League appearances, scoring two goals and providing two assists. In all competitions, he made 20 appearances and contributed five goals for Brighton.

Until a new deal is signed, Lamptey will have to find a new club next month.
