His Royal Majesty Zugraan Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, President of the Kusaug Traditional Council, has directed Maripoma Mining Services to vacate all mining sites in Kusaug with immediate effect.
In a strongly worded letter issued by the Traditional Council, the company was ordered to cease prospecting and mining activities in Zongoiri and other parts of Kusaug due to rising concerns from the local population. The directive comes after widespread petitions from residents and mounting tension surrounding mining operations in the area.
The Council emphasized that Kusaug is currently grappling with serious security challenges, and introducing large-scale mining activities only threatens to destabilize the fragile peace. Citizens of Zongoiri have also petitioned the Environmental Protection Authority to protest against the company’s operations, citing environmental risks and lack of community consensus.
Until calm and normalcy are fully restored, His Royal Majesty has made it clear that no mining company will be permitted to operate in Kusaug. At the appropriate time, the Council promises to engage both the community and stakeholders to ensure that peace and the will of the people are respected.
This directive underscores the commitment of the Kusaug Traditional Council to protect its people, its land, and its future from exploitation and instability.
