Ghana’s Black Stars have welcomed three new additions to the squad for this week’s international friendlies against Japan and South Korea — Prince Kwabena Adu of the Czech Republic, Medeama SC’s Kelvin Nkrumah, and CF Montreal striker Prince Osei Owusu.
Prince Kwabena Adu, who once featured for Bechem United, has earned his first senior national team call-up after a string of consistent performances in the Czech topflight. His inclusion marks another step forward in his impressive rise from local football to the European stage.
German-born forward Prince Osei Owusu arrives with valuable experience from Major League Soccer (MLS). The CF Montreal striker, formerly with Toronto FC, netted nine goals in 31 appearances and is a product of the famed VfB Stuttgart academy. His career spans spells at Hoffenheim, Arminia Bielefeld, and 1860 Munich, where he contributed eight goals and six assists during a loan spell. The Black Stars’ technical team has reportedly been tracking his development closely.
Back home, Medeama’s Kelvin Nkrumah has been one of the standout performers in the Ghana Premier League, helping his club climb to second place with his electrifying displays on the flanks.
Coach Otto Addo is set to lead his first training session in Nagoya on Wednesday ahead of the 2025 Kirin Cup clash against Japan on Friday, November 14, 2025.
However, the squad will be without several key names, including Alexander Djiku, Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew, Fatawu Issahaku, Joseph Paintsil, and Mohammed Kudus. The stars have withdrawn due to injuries or minor knocks, following joint agreements between the national team’s medical team and their respective clubs.
With fresh faces eager to impress and several big names sidelined, the upcoming friendlies will offer Otto Addo a chance to assess new talent as Ghana builds toward future competitive fixtures.
