Ebenezer Akandurugo, Head of PR and Media Relations for renowned musician Stevo Atambire, has boldly declared the celebrated kologo star as the biggest music export from the Upper East Region.
His statement comes as excitement builds for the upcoming 8th edition of the Saa Woo Festival, set for October 25, 2025, at the Nayorigo School Park.

Akandurugo described Stevo as more than just a performer, hailing him as “a movement” who has redefined kologo music through creativity, vision, and discipline.
“I say this with conviction, Stevo is not just an artiste; he’s a movement. Hailing from the Upper East Region, Stevo has risen to become the region’s biggest music export, blending traditional kologo sounds with modern influences that resonate globally,” Akandurugo wrote.
Stevo Atambire, a native of Namoo in the Upper East Region, has earned national and international acclaim for transforming the traditional kologo sound into a globally appealing art form. His fusion of indigenous rhythms with contemporary sounds has positioned him as one of Ghana’s most distinctive cultural ambassadors.
Akandurugo further emphasized that Stevo’s journey is not only about entertainment but also education and empowerment.
“With utmost respect to the legends and emerging acts who continue to shape the music landscape, Stevo has set himself apart by going beyond entertainment, he’s educating, inspiring, and leading. Through his journey, he’s shown that music is not only an art but also a business, empowering his peers to see value in their craft and take ownership of their creative economy.”
Now a fixture on major stages across Ghana and beyond, Stevo’s influence continues to grow. His annual Saa Woo Festival has become one of the most anticipated cultural events in Northern Ghana, celebrating Frafra heritage, unity, and artistic excellence.
As preparations intensify for this year’s edition, Akandurugo’s declaration reinforces Stevo Atambire’s place as the Upper East’s foremost musical export and a beacon of cultural pride.
