The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bongo, Hon. Joseph Akasake Abaah, has accused his immediate predecessor, Madam Rita Atanga, of deliberately abandoning key developmental projects initiated by former DCE Peter Ayinbisa.
In a revealing interview on Bolgatanga-based Dreamz FM, Hon. Abaah expressed concern over the political disregard for continuity, saying it is disheartening that two DCEs from the same party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) could allow personal interests to override the needs of the people.
“I do not know the full details of the relationship between Rita and Ayinbisa,” he stated, “but what is clear is that many of the projects started under Ayinbisa were intentionally ignored by Rita during her tenure. This is a clear sign of how the NPP leadership under Akufo-Addo has failed to put the people first.”
Hon. Abaah emphasized that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, is committed to addressing such political negligence by ensuring all stalled or abandoned projects are completed for the benefit of the people.
“Under the NDC, our focus is on people, not politics. We will complete those abandoned projects regardless of who started them or which party they belong to,” he stressed.
The DCE’s remarks come at a time when residents of Bongo are increasingly calling for accountability and results-driven leadership.
