Lower your pride and go for Tv3’s mentor – Maccasio told

The entertainment industry in Northern Ghana has been thrown into heated debate following bold remarks by Robicon, Manager of Radio Tamale, about rap sensation Maccasio.

Speaking on the Gbewaa Enter10ment Chat Show hosted by DJ Krouch, Robicon stripped the self-styled “69 King” of his widely celebrated status. He bluntly declared: “Maccasio is not bigger than TV3 Mentor, he can still take part of it.”

His comment has rattled Maccasio’s loyal fanbase, the 69 Army, many of whom regard the rapper as one of the North’s biggest musical exports.

Robicon, however, argued that the hype and popularity Maccasio enjoys in Tamale should not be mistaken for national dominance in the music space.

According to him, talent shows such as TV3 Mentor continue to wield more legitimacy and cultural influence than the brand Maccasio has built over the years.

By equating the rapper’s stature to that of a reality show contestant, Robicon indirectly dismissed Maccasio’s landmark achievements including filling stadiums and headlining sold-out concerts as insufficient for true national relevance.

Robicon further cited the case of international star Wiyaala, who despite releasing several albums, participated in the MTN Icons reality show before gaining global recognition.

For him, the lesson is clear: industry validation through such platforms still outweighs localized fanfare.

His comments have since ignited fierce reactions across social media, dividing opinions within the Northern music fraternity.

While some argue that Maccasio’s achievements prove his national weight, others believe Robicon has raised uncomfortable but important questions about what it takes to break through Ghana’s highly competitive music industry.
