The National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has unleashed a blistering attack on the powers behind the arrest and remand of Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe Abronye, describing the move as a shameless attempt to silence outspoken voices in the party.
Abronye was dragged before court on Tuesday and remanded into police custody, a decision Salam Mustapha insists was politically motivated. The firebrand NPP Youth leader minced no words in condemning the action, declaring that those behind it will not escape accountability when the tables turn.
“Is Abronye a criminal? What crime has he committed to deserve this humiliation? Power has an end, and when that time comes, we’ll have our revenge,” he thundered in his reaction.
Salam Mustapha accused opponents of hiding behind state institutions to persecute Abronye, stressing that no amount of intimidation will break the resolve of the NPP’s grassroots. “They think by targeting Abronye, they can weaken our spirit. But let me tell them—this party is built on resilience. We fear nobody,” he declared.
The youth leader warned that attempts to cow the NPP through what he described as “abuse of power” will backfire spectacularly. “Today they are comfortable because they control the levers of power, but history shows that no throne lasts forever. Justice will be served, one way or another,” he charged.
Abronye is expected to reappear in court on Friday, September 12, but his detention has already ignited political fireworks, with supporters vowing to resist what they see as calculated harassment.
