Friends of Emmanuel Bortey Borketey, Chief Executive Officer of Happy Man Bitters, have contributed GH¢6,000 to support the construction and operation of a passport office in Bolgatanga, capital of the Upper East Region.
The initiative, spearheaded by ALAGUMGUBE, a local social group dedicated to promoting development in the region, aims to ease the challenges residents face in acquiring passports. Currently, applicants from the Upper East must travel long distances to Tamale or Accra for passport services.
Speaking at the presentation, the group’s leader, Albert Azongo, praised Mr. Borketey’s consistent dedication to community development, noting that the donation highlights both his personal and corporate commitment.
“This gesture underscores the CEO’s consistent passion for contributing to the growth of our region. It also demonstrates our group’s commitment to promoting the Happy Man brand by linking it with initiatives that bring real change,” Mr. Azongo remarked.
The Bolgatanga Passport Office project, largely funded by individual and institutional contributions, has drawn significant public support since its launch.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the project committee, Mr. Gabriel Agambila expressed deep appreciation to the donors and the Happy Man Bitters family for their generosity.
“This contribution is a major boost, and we remain optimistic that with more of such support, the passport office will soon become a reality,” he said.
He further appealed to corporate bodies, philanthropists, and development-oriented groups to emulate the gesture, stressing that collective effort is key to ensuring the project’s successful completion and sustainability.
The contribution adds to a growing wave of support for the Bolgatanga Passport Office, which, when completed, is expected to enhance service delivery and bring passport acquisition closer to residents of the Upper East Region.
