In a moving tribute to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Emmanuel Bortey Borketey, Founder and CEO of the Charger Group of Companies, producers of the popular Happy Man Bitters—a group of his close friends made a surprise donation to the maternity ward of the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital.
Led by Mr. Albert Azongo, the team presented baby care essentials to mothers who delivered their newborns on June 23rd, the same date as Dr. Borketey’s birthday. Items donated included diapers, baby wipes, towels, bathing soap, bottled water, and other hygiene products.
Mr. Azongo, speaking on behalf of the group, described the donation as a heartfelt way of honoring a man they regard as “a boss, friend, and brother with a heart for people.”
“We love him so much and felt the need to do something meaningful that reflects the values he lives by—kindness, generosity, and compassion,” he said.
This is the third consecutive year that Dr. Borketey and his friends have marked his birthday with acts of kindness. In 2024, the team donated to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the same hospital, while in 2022, they led a massive outreach to nearly all orphanages in the Bolgatanga Municipality.
Receiving the items on behalf of the hospital, Madam Regina, the nurse in charge of the maternity ward, expressed deep gratitude.
“We are deeply touched by this act of kindness. These items will go a long way in supporting new mothers who need them the most,” she said. “We pray for God’s continuous blessings upon Dr. Emmanuel Bortey Borketey and thank the entire team for their generous donation.”
The touching gesture lit up the faces of mothers and families in the ward, turning a personal celebration into a collective moment of joy—further cementing Dr. Borketey’s legacy as a man whose life is defined by compassion and service to humanity.
