The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Upper East Regional Communication Director, Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga, has dropped a bombshell, alleging that homosexuals have been spotted taking pictures with the President of Ghana.
Speaking on Daybreak Upper East on Bolgatanga-based A1 Radio, the former Bongo DCE waded into the controversy surrounding Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s recent meeting with Fante Comedy, the comedian recently arrested for allegedly threatening to kill the President.
Defending the former Vice President, Ayinbisa insisted there was nothing wrong with the encounter, stressing that Ghanaians are known for their spirit of solidarity.
“The hospitality of the country demands that when someone is in trouble, we solidarize with him. That is what Dr. Bawumia did. Even homosexuals have been taking pictures with the President,” he stated.
His explosive comment has sparked debate, with critics questioning why LGBTQ+ issues were dragged into the defense, while others see it as a blunt reminder that public figures often interact with diverse groups regardless of background.
The remark adds fresh fuel to Ghana’s already heated discourse on LGBTQ+ rights, at a time when the country is still grappling with the fate of the controversial anti-LGBTQ+ bill.
