Dr. Akwasi Opong-Fosu Condemns Former Vice President for Endorsing Indiscipline

Governance and Public Policy Expert, Hon. Dr. Akwasi Opong-Fosu, has condemned the former Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 General Election for what he described as condoning and endorsing indiscipline.

His comments follow the arrest of comedian Prince Ofori, popularly known as “Fante Comedy”, and his group, who allegedly threatened to kill the President and behead the First Lady.

According to Dr. Opong-Fosu, the incident cannot be dismissed as comedy. “That is not comedy — it is criminality,” he stressed.

He noted that the controversy was further deepened when, after securing bail, Prince Ofori’s first visit was to the residence of the former Vice President. Dr. Opong-Fosu said the move sent a dangerous message to the public.
“When, after bail, his first stop is the home of a former Vice President and a presidential candidate in the 2024 general elections, it sends a dangerous message: impunity is tolerated, stupidity is endorsed,” he said.

The former Minister of Local Government and Rural Development warned that such actions could weaken leadership, undermine democracy, and breed instability.
“Silence is not neutrality — it is complicity. Moral authorities must speak up against such reckless behaviour,” he added.

Dr. Opong-Fosu urged political leaders to act responsibly as the country heads toward another elections in 2028, stressing that indiscipline must not be legitimised in national politics.
