The Member of Parliament (MP) for Chiana-Paga, Hon. Nikyema Billa Alamzy, has provided financial support of GH¢2,000 each to 220 women in his constituency to boost their economic ventures.
According to the MP, the initiative is designed to improve the livelihoods of women, most of whom are petty traders and farmers. “We know it is not enough, but we are doing our best to cushion them a little because our women are suffering and need our support,” Mr. Alamzy said.
He stressed that the funds were drawn from his share of the MP’s Common Fund, which he has committed to using solely for the benefit of his constituents and developmental projects. “This will not be the last support from my office. I will continue to look for more resources to extend a helping hand to our women,” he assured.
District Chief Executive for Kassena-Nankana West, Mr. Stephen Aeke Akurugo, urged the beneficiaries to invest the money wisely in their businesses to ensure sustainable growth.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the MP, describing the GH¢2,000 package as a timely intervention. Many said the support would help them expand their businesses, settle debts, or cover school fees.
The women also commended Hon. Alamzy and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government for their commitment to improving the lives of women in the constituency.
