The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bongo, Hon. Joseph Abaah Akansake, has officially handed over newly constructed boreholes to the people of Gorigo and Borigo communities in the Upper East Region.
The project marks a major milestone in the district’s efforts to improve access to safe and reliable drinking water. Residents of the beneficiary communities, who have long struggled with water scarcity, expressed joy and relief at the new facilities, which are expected to reduce waterborne diseases, enhance sanitation, and ease the burden on women and children who often travel long distances in search of water.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Hon. Akansake reaffirmed the assembly’s commitment to improving the living standards of the people through sustainable development projects.
“This initiative will go a long way to provide safe and reliable drinking water, improve sanitation, and enhance the well-being of our people. Together, we are building stronger and healthier communities,” he stated.
The newly handed-over boreholes form part of ongoing interventions by the Bongo District Assembly aimed at addressing pressing social needs and promoting healthier communities.
