Alagumgube hails gov’t over approval of Bolgatanga Airport project

Alagumgube, a prominent development advocacy group in the Upper East Region, has welcomed the government’s approval of the Bolgatanga Airport project, describing it as a well-earned victory for years of sustained advocacy, community mobilisation, and engagement with national stakeholders.

In a statement issued on Friday and co-signed by the Founder and the Africa Secretary, the group noted that the announcement marks a “major step toward fulfilling a long-held dream” of improving air connectivity and accelerating development in the region.

Alagumgube highlighted that this achievement did not come by chance, but through deliberate and persistent actions including community sensitisation, clearing of runway, media advocacy, petitions to government authorities, and continuous dialogue with policymakers. These efforts, the group said, kept the airport agenda alive and firmly on the national development radar.

“For years, we have championed and worked tirelessly for the establishment of an airport in the Upper East Region, meeting leaders, pushing conversations, and rallying our people behind this dream,” the statement read. “This milestone brings us immense joy and renewed hope for enhanced development.”

The group acknowledged the decades-long wait for such a transformative project and said the approval has sparked optimism among residents who understand the economic and social benefits the airport will bring.

Alagumgube also commended its members for their steadfast dedication, noting that their unity, commitment, and advocacy were instrumental in pushing the agenda to this point.

The group reaffirmed its commitment to continue supporting initiatives that promote progress and uplift the Upper East Region.
