Ghanaian international Reggae/Kuchoko artiste has been booked to headline the largest film festival in West Africa , FESPACO slated for between 22nd February and 1st March in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
The government of Burkina Faso has taken a special interest in Blakk Rasta for a while now which probably led to the artiste making a patriotic song for Burkina Faso called Burkina Faso- Ma Patrie, Ma Fierté (Burkina Faso, My country, My Pride).
The Ghanaian artiste is an unapologetic pan Africanist who has won several hearts for his brand back at home and beyond.
He has done several performances across the globe and has an album, Salaga Soljah, which was shortlisted for the 2025 Grammys as the only African Reggae album.
Blakk Rasta will play in Ouagadougou on the 27th and 28th February at the Revolution Square and the Kwame Nkrumah Avenue as announced by festival CEO, Abraham Abassagué.
“We can’t wait to have Blakk Rasta at FESPACO. He is a great artiste full of energy and honesty. Burkinabes would love such a hero of our culture.” Abraham intimated.
“Blakk Rasta is the only artiste booked from outside Burkina Faso this year out of over sixty performers of dance, comedy, theatre and music. He is the star of FESPACO this year.”
Blakk Rasta said he is elated to be playing at FESPACO though this is not the first time he would be playing in Burkina Faso.
He has high hopes for the festival where he will be playing with his Herbalist Band.
