Man in critical condition as fire destroys three-bedroom house in Damongo

A fire outbreak in Damongo, Savannah Region, has left one person in critical condition after engulfing a three-bedroom house.

The Municipal Fire Command received a distress call from Azura Kura, a suburb of Damongo, at about 9:18 a.m. on Thursday.

Firefighters arrived swiftly but found the building already in flames, with one person trapped inside.

The victim, a male adult, was rescued with burns on parts of his body and rushed to the Damongo District Hospital for treatment.

Fire personnel also averted a potential explosion by securing two gas cylinders on the premises.

Municipal Fire Commander ADO1 Philip Okuma attributed the fire to an overloaded socket.

Alongside Regional Fire Commander ACFO Emmanuel Ofori Adjei, he urged residents to unplug electronic devices before leaving home to prevent similar incidents.
