Mahama urges international community to ensure equitable benefits from partnerships

Former President John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghana’s international partners, particularly China, to ensure that the benefits of their collaboration are shared equitably among their people.

Speaking at the Chinese Lantern Festival Gala at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Sunday, February 9, Mahama emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation and respect in international relations.

“As we move forward, we must continue to embrace cooperation and mutual respect, ensuring that the benefits of our partnerships are shared by all our people,” he stated.

He reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to tackling its economic challenges and acknowledged China’s role in supporting the country’s economic recovery efforts.

“As we celebrate tonight, let us reflect on the deeper message of this festival. The world today faces many challenges—economic uncertainty, global conflicts, climate change, and emerging health concerns. Yet, the light of this festival reminds us that even in times of darkness, hope must never be lost,” he said.

Mahama further highlighted the importance of resilience and unity in overcoming global challenges, stressing that Ghana remains committed to strengthening its international partnerships for sustainable development.
