A tragic fire outbreak at Kisseman, near Achimota, in the early hours of Wednesday has claimed the life of a four-month-old baby.
The blaze, which started at dawn, also destroyed several apartments and shops, leaving residents in shock and despair.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire spread rapidly, fueled by highly combustible materials, making it difficult for personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to contain the inferno.
Firefighters battled for hours to bring the situation under control.
“The fire was intense, and the smoke was too much. By the time we realized, it had consumed several structures,” a distressed resident recounted.
Authorities are yet to determine the cause of the fire, but investigations are underway.
Meanwhile, affected residents have been left homeless, with many counting their losses.
The GNFS has urged the public to observe fire safety measures, especially during the dry season, to prevent such disasters.
