Thomas More eyes council of state seat after decades of NDC loyalty

Thomas More, a revered advocate for community action and development, has announced his bid for a seat in the Council of State under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.

With over 50 years of unwavering dedication to healthcare delivery, nursing education, political leadership, and youth empowerment, More is a distinguished figure in the Upper East Region.

His journey, marked by resilience and sacrifice, underscores his commitment to public service and the NDC’s ideals.

As a founding member of the NDC in the Upper East Region, More has played a pivotal role in shaping the party’s vision and strategies.

Despite his significant contributions, including selling his properties and car to support the party during critical moments, More has often been overlooked for key appointments.

Recounting his struggles, he shared, “In 1993, I was promised the position of DCE for Bolgatanga, but someone else was handed the role at the last minute. Similar promises in 1995 and beyond were also unfulfilled. Yet, I remained loyal and continued to work tirelessly for the party.”

Now, as he seeks a seat in the Council of State, More faces stiff competition from other seasoned political figures in the region. His campaign is built on the principles of inclusive governance, aligning with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of ensuring representation for all, including marginalized groups like persons with disabilities.

More’s ability to bridge divides, foster unity, and drive development makes him a strong contender.

However, the competitive nature of the contest poses a significant challenge. Will the appointing committee recognize his decades of service, resilience, and vision for the region?

For many, More’s candidacy represents an opportunity to honour a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication to the NDC and the people of the Upper East Region.
