A severe rainstorm has caused extensive destruction in Tepa Abonsuaso, located in the Ahafo Ano North Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The storm, which struck on Friday, left four people injured and displaced over 70 households after ripping off the roofs of more than 20 buildings.
Frederick Nyamekye, the assembly member for the Abonsuaso electoral area, described the situation as devastating.
“The heavy rain has left many without roofs over their heads, and some, including children in schools, sustained injuries,” he lamented.
Antwi Ernest, the NADMO Zonal Coordinator for Tepa Abonsuaso, revealed that his team is assessing the damage and providing support to the affected residents.
“We have toured the area to evaluate the situation. Although we currently lack an MCE, we plan to notify the coordinating director. We also appeal to NGOs for assistance in managing this crisis,” he stated.
The storm has left the community in urgent need of relief and support to recover from the unexpected disaster.
