Interior minister-designate Muntaka Mubarak faces vetting today

The Appointments Committee of Parliament will today, January 24, vet Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, the Minister-Designate for the Interior.

Muntaka Mubarak, a seasoned politician and Member of Parliament for Asawase in the Ashanti Region since 2005, has a political career spanning over two decades.

His tenure is marked by significant contributions to his constituency and Ghana’s development.

Previously, Muntaka served as Minister for Youth and Sports under the late President John Evans Atta Mills.

During his tenure, he prioritized youth empowerment and sports development, leaving a notable impact despite challenges.

If approved, Muntaka will lead the Ministry of the Interior, responsible for national security, public safety, and law enforcement.

Key agencies under the Ministry include the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and the Narcotics Control Commission.

His mandate will involve ensuring these agencies function efficiently to uphold law and order, address security threats, and promote the rule of law.

Additionally, he will play a pivotal role in shaping policies that support Ghana’s goals of peace, stability, and sustainable development.
