Sung Biela Foundation empowers visually impaired brothers

The Sung Biela Foundation has extended its support to two visually impaired brothers, Moses and Awini Adakudugu, from the Binduri district in Ghana’s Upper East Region.

This initiative aims to improve their educational and economic opportunities.

Moses, 25, a political science student at the University of Ghana, has received continuous support from the foundation, covering his basic needs and academic resources since senior high school.

In 2024, the foundation provided him with a laptop, a white cane, financial assistance, and essential food items to aid his academic journey.

Grateful for the support, Moses said, “I truly appreciate her support and pray for her long life so she can continue to assist people like us.”

His elder brother, Awini, 32, a Junior High School graduate, was supported with GHS 5,000 to establish a weaving business from home.

Awini now crafts nylon rope furniture, including chairs, tables, and doormats, and plans to open a shop in the Bawku area to expand his craft.

Additionally, he offers training to others who wish to learn the trade. “Vulnerable people like me can come and learn the craft so it can grow and develop,” Awini said.

The foundation has also supported Azumah Oswin, another visually impaired student from Kpalugu, who lost his sight during school.

After reaching out in 2023, Azumah received hand frames, stylos, and other materials to enhance his studies.

Reflecting on the foundation’s impact, he said, “Life was tough, but the support has made a significant positive change.”

Hajia Zenabu Awinbe Salifu, founder of the Sung Biela Foundation, attributed the organization’s success to the generosity of its donors.

She emphasized the importance of collective effort in alleviating hardship, stating, “If more people contribute, the world will become a better place.”
