Damongo youth protest against disqualification of MCE candidate Mumuni Yahaya

The Concerned Youth of Damongo in the Savannah Region have voiced their strong opposition to the disqualification of Mumuni Yahaya, a candidate for the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) position in the West Gonja Municipality.

During a press conference, the group accused Adam Mutawakilu, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Damongo in the 2024 general election, of influencing the disqualification process.

Sulemana Malik, the group’s lead convenor, described the vetting process as biased and lacking fairness, alleging that the entire vetting committee was aligned with Adam Mutawakilu.

He further claimed that Mumuni Yahaya’s disqualification was linked to his association with Alhaji Muniru Limuna and Lawyer Zankawah, prominent NDC figures credited with the party’s success in the constituency.

Abass Yakubu, another group member, issued a warning to the vetting committee, demanding Mumuni Yahaya’s reinstatement as a candidate. He cautioned that the committee would be held accountable for any consequences if their demands were not met.

The Concerned Youth of Damongo called on the party leadership to address their grievances and ensure a transparent selection process for the MCE position.
