President John Dramani Mahama has urged newly sworn-in ministers to approach their roles with humility, honesty, and a commitment to serving the Ghanaian people.
He made these remarks on Wednesday, January 22, during the swearing-in ceremony of six ministerial nominees, who were approved by Parliament after rigorous vetting and debate.
The newly sworn-in ministers are:
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as Finance Minister
Dr. Dominic Ayine as Attorney General
John Jinapor as Minister for Energy and Green Transition
Haruna Iddrisu as Education Minister
Eric Opoku as Minister for Food and Agriculture
Governs Kwame Agbodza as Minister for Roads and Highways
Addressing the appointees, President Mahama emphasized the critical role they play in meeting the aspirations of Ghanaians. He reminded them that their authority stems from the citizens who entrusted the government with power.
“Ghanaians have shown that the era of tolerating disrespectful conduct from government officials is over. They will hold administrations accountable when necessary,” the President stated.
He charged the ministers to always serve with humility and candour, stressing the need to respect public opinions and work diligently to meet the needs of the people.
“We serve at the pleasure of the Ghanaian people, and the authority we exercise comes from them. We must demonstrate tolerance for their views and strive to fulfill their expectations,” he added.
President Mahama further assured the public of his administration’s zero tolerance for any form of disrespect towards the citizens, highlighting the importance of staying grounded and committed to public service.
