Mahama Haruna, General Manager of Nkilgi FM in Bole, has called for calm amidst protests by some NDC youth in former President John Dramani Mahama’s hometown, labeling their actions an embarrassment to the party and the former president.
Haruna urged party members to respect Mahama’s ministerial appointments, warning that disruptive actions could tarnish his reputation.
“Any action by the NDC youth in Bole will only embarrass President John Dramani Mahama in the eyes of Ghanaians,” he said.
The protests, sparked by the exclusion of Bole-Bamboi MP Alhaji Yusif Sulemana from the list of ministerial appointees, saw some youth burning car tyres near Mahama’s father’s residence.
Videos of the incident have circulated online, with reports of threats to burn the NDC office in Bole.
The youth argue that Mahama has repeatedly overlooked Bole representatives for cabinet positions, undermining their contributions to the party’s success.
However, Alhaji Yusif Sulemana has distanced himself from the protests, condemning the actions and pledging to issue an official statement soon.
Mahama Haruna emphasized trust in Mahama’s leadership, urging patience among the youth. “President Mahama knows what he is about. He is sharp and discerning,” Haruna said, encouraging unity and restraint.
The situation has raised concerns among party stakeholders, who are appealing for calm as Mahama finalizes his ministerial appointments.
