The Minister of Education-designate, Haruna Iddrisu, has announced plans by the government to refund admission fees paid by first-year university students.
Speaking during his vetting by the Appointments Committee of Parliament on January 20, he disclosed that the upcoming government budget, dubbed the “Reset Budget,” will allocate GHC345 million for the initiative.
“With the authority of President Mahama, the Minister of Finance-designate, Dr. Ato Forson, if approved, will present the Reset Budget, which will include GHC345 million to refund admission fees for students studying in regular programs, excluding areas like Medicine,” he stated.
Haruna Iddrisu acknowledged that some students have already paid their fees and assured that refunds will be processed.
