673, not 11,000: Agbodza disputes Akufo-Addo’s road claims

The Roads and Highways Minister-Designate, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has dismissed former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s assertion that his administration constructed 11,000 kilometres of new roads.

During his vetting on January 20, 2025, before Parliament’s Appointments Committee, Agbodza clarified that only 673 kilometres of new roads were built during the period, contrary to the former President’s claim.

“The record in Parliament is clear. Ghana constructed 673 kilometres of new roads, not 11,000,” he stated.

Agbodza explained that most of the government’s road-related activities since 2017 focused on re-graveling and graveling existing roads, covering 6,185.90 kilometres, rather than constructing new ones.

This revelation challenges the narrative of unprecedented road construction touted by the Akufo-Addo administration.
