Tamale High Court orders Kpandai election rerun

The Tamale High Court has ordered a rerun of the Kpandai parliamentary election, directing the Electoral Commission to conduct a fresh poll within 30 days.

The ruling, delivered by His Lordship Emmanuel Brew Plange, follows a petition challenging the credibility of the 2024 parliamentary results in the constituency.

Former Member of Parliament and National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, Daniel Nsala Wakpal, filed the suit disputing the election of Matthew Nyindam as MP. Wakpal argued that the December 7 parliamentary election was invalid due to irregularities and inconsistencies discovered during the voting and collation processes.

According to the petition, discrepancies were identified in FORM 8A — the Statement of Polls for parliamentary elections — across 41 of the 152 polling stations in the constituency. The court found the claims substantial enough to warrant a fresh election, paving the way for voters in Kpandai to return to the polls in the coming weeks.
