Qatar to begin immediate recruitment of Ghanaian professionals — Foreign Minister

Ghana has secured a significant international employment breakthrough as Qatar moves to immediately recruit Ghanaian professionals across multiple sectors, including health, tourism, information technology, transport, and logistics.

The development was confirmed by Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa following a high-level meeting with Qatar’s Undersecretary of Labour, Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al Thani.

“Qatar has expressed interest in immediately recruiting Ghanaian professionals,” Ablakwa said, describing the move as a timely opportunity for the nation’s growing skilled workforce.

He revealed that Qatar has already ratified the bilateral labour cooperation agreement between the two countries, adding that the Ghanaian Parliament is expected to complete its ratification “in the next few weeks,” paving the way for structured labour mobility.

As part of efforts to deepen collaboration, Ghana has also requested the establishment of a West African Qatar Visa Centre in the country. The centre, once approved, will streamline recruitment processes and facilitate safe, efficient labour migration for Ghanaian workers.

Ablakwa noted that Qatari employers have consistently praised Ghanaian workers “for their impressive work ethic and high standards,” a reputation that has strengthened confidence in expanding Ghana’s presence in Qatar’s labour market.

The Foreign Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering the youth and creating pathways to prosperity.
“The administration remains dedicated to creating opportunities for the Ghanaian youth both home and abroad through smart and pragmatic policies,” he stressed.

The move is expected to open thousands of job avenues for Ghana’s skilled professionals and deepen economic ties between the two nations.
