GAF rolls out special recruitment package for families of stampede victims

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced a special recruitment package for the families of the six recruits who tragically lost their lives—and for those who sustained injuries—during the stampede at the November 12th recruitment exercise in the Greater Accra Region.

In a press release, Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, expressed the force’s profound sympathies to those affected.
“The Ghana Armed Forces regrets the unfortunate incident, and extends its deepest sympathies to the bereaved families, and also wishes the injured a speedy recovery,” she stated.

Captain Arhin assured the public that all injured victims are receiving comprehensive support.
“All injured will continue to receive free medical services at the 37 Military Hospital until they recover,” she confirmed.

She further revealed that the GAF has instituted a special recruitment package aimed at easing the burden on victims and their families.
“A special recruitment package will be offered to all injured after full recovery and also to the bereaved families,” she added.

The recruitment exercise, which was initially suspended following the tragic incident, has now resumed under the supervision of a newly assigned team to ensure improved safety and orderliness.

The Ghana Armed Forces reiterates its commitment to transparency, welfare, and the safety of all prospective recruits as the process continues.
