Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Sam Nartey George, has lashed out at the Parliamentary Appointments Committee, accusing it of prioritising the wrong issues during his recent vetting process.
Sam George, who spent over five hours before the committee, was questioned on a variety of topics, many of which he argued had little to do with his qualifications or plans for the new role.
According to George, much of the interrogation, led by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, focused on his past political remarks instead of assessing his expertise in communications and digital technology.
In an interview on Channel One TV, Sam George expressed his disappointment with the committee’s line of questioning.
“A man must stand by what he believes in. And when people see the Appointments Committee as a platform to settle scores, to basically exact vengeance, it’s unfortunate,” he said.
“I thought Afenyo-Markin or anyone else could have asked more relevant questions about the sector.”
He further lamented that a key opportunity to evaluate his vision and technical knowledge in the communications and digital technology sectors had been missed, overshadowed by unrelated personal issues.
