Founder and General Overseer of Lighthouse Chapel International, Dag Heward-Mills, has spoken strongly against the trend of musicians demanding payment for their services in the church.
In a video circulating on social media, he criticized the practice and emphasized that true worship should not come with a price tag.
“Watch out for people who do things for money. In my church, I said I am not going to pay people to play instruments, because I play all the instruments. I play drums, piano, and guitar,” he said.
Dag Heward-Mills shared how he personally created a solution to this issue by training the youth in his church.
“I got all the children in the church and set up a music school where every child must learn how to play the piano. So now, all the children in my church can play the piano.”
He made it clear that serving in church should be driven by love for God, not financial gain.
“Nobody can come and bully us in church by asking to be paid before singing. It’s nonsense. Here, we don’t pay, because you love Jesus. If not, go.”
