Bongo MP disburse GHS 188k to students, patients in new relief push

Hon. Charles Adongo Bawaduah, Member of Parliament for Bongo Constituency, has approved GHS 171,000 from the MP Support Fund to enable 146 students to resume school in the 2025/2026 academic year. In addition, GHS 17,000 has been allocated to assist seven individuals with medical conditions cover their medical bills.

Speaking on the announcement, Lawyer Bawaduah reiterated his commitment to easing the financial burdens on vulnerable members of the community. “My office continues to receive and process applications,” he assured.

Charles Bawaduah, who succeeded Edward Abambire Bawa after winning the 2024 general election for the Bongo seat on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress, has made promises of transformative development since taking office.

In December 2024, following his victory with a commanding 75.96% of the votes, Bawaduah pledged not to disappoint his constituents.

The education support will help students who might otherwise delay or abandon their studies due to financial constraints, while the medical fund aims to relieve the cost burden on those with pressing health needs. MPs’ funds of this kind have become increasingly important across Ghana in supporting grass-roots access to education and healthcare.

Constituents say they hope such relief efforts will be sustained and expanded, particularly as the hunger for quality health and educational services remains strong in the Upper East Region.
