Renowned US-based Ghanaian author, inspirational speaker, and leadership trainer, Dr Samuel Koranteng Pipim, has challenged Ghana’s education sector to go beyond the mere pursuit of certificates and focus on empowering the minds of students.
Speaking at the 2025 Public Lecture Series at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Dr Pipim emphasized that education must be seen as a tool for mind liberation and empowerment.
“Education is not simply the learning of facts or passing exams. It is about training the mind to think critically, creatively, and intensively,” he stated.
Dr Pipim supported his argument by referencing thought leaders such as Albert Einstein and Dr J.E.K. Aggrey, Ghana’s pioneer educationist, who defined education as the training of the head, hand, and heart.
“We should not limit education to just reading, writing, and arithmetic. It must include developing the skills of the hands, building the morals of the heart, and empowering the head to think,” he added.
Dr Pipim further encouraged educational institutions in Ghana to review their teaching approaches to reflect this holistic view of education, which he believes is key to shaping the future of the nation.
