UE/R: Bolga Central MP secures 16km of roads to transform constituency

Residents of Bolgatanga Central are set to enjoy a significant boost in road infrastructure as their Member of Parliament, Isaac Adongo, has successfully lobbied for the construction of 16 kilometers of roads within the municipality. The projects are expected to commence this year, 2025.

Speaking on Bolgatanga-based Bolga FM with Joshua Asaah, Mr. Adongo explained that while the initiative came through his lobbying, the selection and design of the specific road networks were entrusted to engineers. “It was important that the experts themselves identified and designed the stretches, so we get durable roads that truly serve the people,” he noted.

The beneficiary roads include the stretch from Ojam Car Washing Bay through A1 Radio to the Kalbeo Catholic Church, extending further to the Kalbeo Chief Palace junction and linking the Bolga-Tamale Highway. Another connection will run from the Royal Hotel to A1 Radio Junction, with an additional link between OLA Parish Junction and the Royal Hotel Road. Residents around the Pentecost Hospital in Kumbangre will also benefit from a new road connecting the area to the Bolga-Tamale Highway.

Furthermore, the long-neglected stretch from the defunct Asongtaaba Guinea Fowl Cottage at Sumbrungu through Yebongo to the Kulbia Chief Palace, joining the Bolga-Navrongo Highway, has also been captured under the project.

Mr. Adongo emphasized that while other constituencies in the region secured 10 kilometers of road construction, his lobbying efforts brought an additional six kilometers for Bolgatanga Central. He expressed optimism that more contracts would be secured annually over the next four years to further open up the municipality.

“This is just the beginning, and all these will be tarred,” the MP assured. “If we can secure similar allocations year after year, Bolgatanga will not only be better connected but could be elevated to metropolitan status.”

Residents have welcomed the development, saying the new roads will ease mobility, boost local businesses, and improve access to key services across the municipality.
