The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect captured in a viral video assaulting a young man with a machete near a fuel tanker.
According to a statement shared on the Police Service’s official Facebook page today, the suspect, identified as Dawuda Sumaila, was apprehended on 9th April 2025 through an intelligence-led operation.
Sumaila, who works as a tanker driver’s mate, is currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.
The violent incident reportedly occurred on Friday, 4th April 2025, at Anyinam in the Eastern Region.
The video, which has been widely circulated on social media, drew public outrage and prompted swift action by law enforcement authorities.
Police say investigations are ongoing to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the assault.
