Minority petitions Speaker over botched attempt to arrest Ntim Fordjour

The Minority in Parliament has petitioned the Speaker of Parliament over the attempt by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to arrest Member of Parliament Rev. John Ntim Fordjour.

The petition signed by Minority Chief Whip Frank Annor Dompreh said the action disregards established parliamentary protocols and undermines the dignity and sanctity of Parliament.

The petition references previous directives from the Speaker aimed at ensuring that MPs are approached through proper channels when investigations or related matters arise.

To the minority, the attempt to arrest Rev. Ntim Fordjour is a threat to the separation of powers.

They urged the Speaker of Parliament to take urgent steps to ensure that security agencies’ interactions with MPs are conducted per the Constitution and with the decorum befitting their status as representatives of the people.
