O2 concert was for Ghana, not just me – Medikal

Rapper Medikal has described his historic O2 concert as a moment of pride, not just for himself but for Ghana as a whole.

Speaking to Anita Akufo on TV3, he reflected on the milestone of becoming the first Ghanaian artist to headline a show at the iconic venue.

“Yes, I relive every moment,” Medikal said, emphasizing that the concert symbolized a significant achievement for the Ghanaian music industry, particularly for hip-hop artists.

“It was a bold statement, not just for me but for all Ghanaians. I grew up listening to big names, and now, I’m inspiring the youth by showing them that it’s possible to reach great heights,” he added.

The rapper also spoke about how the success of the event has impacted his career, allowing him to expand his fan base internationally.

“Career-wise, it gave me the chance to connect with fans abroad, especially in America and parts of Europe. London was unique, and it made me realize the importance of pushing our music globally,” he explained.

Looking to the future, Medikal hinted at bigger projects and international performances, though he kept details under wraps.

“There are plans to take Ghanaian music across borders. I’m definitely working on something big,” he teased.

When asked about a possible return to the O2 in 2025, Medikal confirmed there were discussions but refrained from committing to a specific date.

“I’m not saying next year, but big plans are in motion,” he said, leaving fans eager for what’s to come.
