Lecturer and NDC communicator, Dr. Seidu Mohammed (MLS.D), has officially declared his intention to contest the Tamale Central by-election scheduled for 30 September 2025, following the tragic death of MP Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed in a helicopter crash earlier this month.
In a press statement, Dr. Seidu paid glowing tribute to the late Murtala, describing him as a mentor who first gave him the opportunity to represent the NDC on national television in 2011. He pledged to continue Murtala’s legacy while charting his own path of service in the constituency.
The Assistant Lecturer at the University for Development Studies highlighted his long-standing work as an NDC communicator and vowed to focus on youth empowerment, jobs, peace, and improved infrastructure if elected.
The Electoral Commission has announced that nominations will open from 8–10 September 2025 with a filing fee of GH₵10,000, while the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has already pulled out of the contest, leaving the NDC’s candidate with a clear path to victory.
Dr. Seidu called on constituents to rally behind his candidacy, stressing: “I take this decision not for myself, but for the young people and the constituents of Tamale Central. Together, let’s take charge.”
