Millions of lives destroyed – Ken Thompson slams Akufo-Addo’s leadership

Former Dalex Finance CEO, Ken Thompson, has launched a scathing critique of former President Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration, blaming it for Ghana’s current economic woes.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s Face to Face, Thompson expressed deep frustration over the leadership approach of Akufo-Addo, whom he accused of neglecting the needs of ordinary Ghanaians.

“He was more interested in himself than anybody else. He wasn’t addressing the issues that faced the people,” Thompson said.

The finance expert revealed that he had initially cautioned former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta about the country’s economic trajectory. However, after his warnings were ignored, he escalated the matter to Akufo-Addo, urging him to take action.

“I felt that after I had spoken to Ken and he didn’t listen, I needed to go further and make a point and say, ‘President, look, you are destroying the lives of millions of Ghanaians,’” he recounted.

Thompson did not hold back in his final assessment, declaring, “They ran the economy aground.”

His remarks add to the growing criticism of the economic challenges that characterized Akufo-Addo’s tenure, including high inflation, currency depreciation, and debt restructuring under the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program.
