Bawku Central Member of Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, has strongly condemned the alleged military brutalities against civilians in Bawku on the night of Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

“I regret the accidental killing of a military personnel and I condemn that dastardly act,” Ayariga stated. “However, ransacking homes, beating innocent civilians, and holding the entire town to ransom cannot be justified.”

He vowed to hold the military accountable for their conduct and urged military leadership and local authorities to focus on investigating the soldier’s death rather than resorting to what he termed indiscriminate aggression.

Ayariga also expressed disappointment that his previous calls for restraint were ignored.

He extended condolences to the bereaved soldier’s family while urging all parties to trust the Asantehene-led peace mediation process.
