The Kusaug Traditional Council has strongly condemned the murder of a military personnel by unidentified gunmen in Bawku on Monday, March 17, 2025.
In a press release signed by the Zug-Raan, Bawku Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, the Council described the act as “senseless and brutal,” expressing deep sorrow over the tragedy.
“We unequivocally condemn this act of violence, which has left our community in grief and trauma,” the statement read.
The Council extended its condolences to the family of the deceased, the Ghana Armed Forces, and the nation. It called on security agencies to swiftly investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Additionally, the Council urged all stakeholders to collaborate with security forces to maintain peace and stability in the area.
“Together, let us uphold the values of peace, respect for human life, and the rule of law,” the statement concluded.
The incident has heightened tensions in Bawku, a town that has witnessed recurring conflicts in recent years. Security agencies are yet to make any arrests in connection with the attack.
