Imani Africa President Franklin Cudjoe has expressed disappointment over reports suggesting the dismissal of Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Dampare, urging Ghana to uphold professionalism in law enforcement.
In a Facebook post, Cudjoe questioned the credibility of the reports and their implications for national security. “Well, difficult to know what to believe these days,” he remarked, reflecting skepticism over the alleged decision.
Highlighting Dampare’s contributions, he noted that the IGP had transformed the Ghana Police Service, rising through the ranks with professionalism and fortitude despite internal and external challenges.
“It would be sad if someone who has been a true professional, risen through the ranks, changed the face of policing, and enhanced our nation’s security would be relieved of his position without any adverse findings,” Cudjoe stated.
He emphasized the need to prioritize competence over political influence, warning against sacrificing effective leadership for partisanship.
“We must insist on professionalism instead of extreme partisanship. There are few good men. Keep them when you find them,” he concluded.
