Parliament has reconstituted key committees, including the Appointments Committee, Business Committee, and Committee of Selection, following recent leadership changes and ministerial appointments.
The exercise, conducted under Article 103 of the 1992 Constitution and Parliament’s Standing Orders, aimed to align committee representation with the current Majority (187 members) and Minority (88 members) Caucuses, factoring in fairness and inclusivity.
The reshuffle was driven by the appointment of some committee members as Ministers of State and leadership changes within the Majority Caucus.
The Committee of Selection, responsible for committee compositions, adhered to Standing Order 210, ensuring chairperson appointments reflected parliamentary party strengths.
The updated committee list has been submitted to the House for approval.
