‘No fresh ideas from National Economic Dialogue’ — Kabiru Tiah Mahama

The Member of Parliament for Walewale, Abdul Kabiru Tiah Mahama, has criticized the recently concluded National Economic Dialogue, saying it offered no new solutions to Ghana’s economic challenges.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile, Mahama argued that while the government promised to provide further insights from the event, the discussions lacked any groundbreaking ideas.

“Not even one single thing from the dialogue sounded strikingly new. Not even one,” he said, expressing disappointment over the absence of fresh proposals.

His remarks echo growing skepticism about the event’s impact, with political activist Arthur Kennedy also questioning whether the dialogue would lead to tangible policy changes or merely become another political routine.

IMANI Africa’s Vice President, Kofi Bentil, called for a more structured approach to future dialogues, emphasizing the need for focused, solution-driven discussions to avoid turning such events into mere “talk shops.”

The government is yet to release the detailed outcomes of the dialogue, as promised.
