S/R: Gonjaland youth hail Mahama, Haruna Iddrisu for absorption of Savannah CoE

The Gonjaland Youth Association has lauded President John Dramani Mahama and Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu for the successful absorption of the Savannah College of Education (CoE) into Ghana’s public education system.

In a statement on March 7, 2025, the association described the move as a landmark achievement that will boost teacher training and educational development in the Savannah Region.

“We wish to express our deepest gratitude to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for his prompt action in responding to the needs of the people in the Savannah Region, as well as the staff and students of the college,” the statement read.

The group praised Haruna Iddrisu for his leadership and swift actions in facilitating the transition, highlighting his pivotal role in ensuring a seamless process.

The association noted that this is the region’s first public College of Education and is confident it will now compete favorably with other institutions nationwide.

It also acknowledged Prof. Ahmed Jinapor, Director-General of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), Yagbonwura Biikunuto Jewu Soale I, and other key stakeholders for their support.

The Gonjaland Youth Association reaffirmed its commitment to working with chiefs and locals to ensure the college’s continued success.
