Mahama slams shoddy work on Ketu South resettlement housing project

President John Dramani Mahama has criticized the poor quality of work on a resettlement housing project for tidal wave victims in Ketu South, calling for higher standards to protect affected communities.

During his Independence Day visit on March 6, 2025, Mahama expressed his disappointment after inspecting the ongoing project.

He emphasized the need for quality construction to ensure the safety and well-being of residents in communities like Amutinu, Salakope, and Agavedzi, who continue to battle the devastating effects of tidal waves.

The President assured residents that funds would be allocated in the 2025 budget for Phase Two of the Berekusu Sea Defence Project.

His visit also included the distribution of food, relief items, and cash support to those in need.

“We must do better for our people,” Mahama stated, reinforcing his commitment to finding a long-term solution to the coastal erosion and flooding challenges facing the area.
