Former Ledzokuku MP and current CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, has responded to growing suggestions that he is presidential material, stating that while he is flattered by the support, he believes there is still much for him to learn.
Dr. Okoe Boye drew a biblical analogy to emphasize the importance of preparation and experience before assuming leadership at the highest level.
“Was David a king material? Even when he was anointed with oil by Samuel, it wasn’t that same year he became king.
“He had a lot of things to learn from to gather experience,” he explained on Movement TV.
The former legislator, who served in the 7th Parliament on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), acknowledged that the idea of him contesting for the party’s flagbearer position in the future has been raised by some supporters.
However, he clarified that leadership, especially at the presidential level, requires deep learning and maturity.
“Even if God says I will become one, there are a lot of things I ought to learn and pass through,” he said.
