Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has cautioned Bank of Ghana (BoG) Governor Dr. Johnson Asiama to maintain the independence of his office and avoid being drawn into political controversies.
During Dr. Asiama’s appearance in Parliament on Wednesday to address concerns over the cost of the BoG’s new headquarters, Afenyo-Markin warned against selective scrutiny of the central bank’s actions.
“Mr. Governor, don’t make yourself a tool for political football,” he stated, urging Dr. Asiama to resist political influence and uphold the critical role of his office in maintaining Ghana’s economic stability.
Afenyo-Markin also advised the Majority in Parliament to handle economic discussions with caution to safeguard the nation’s financial stability.
