Ghana’s Kuchoko legend, Blakk Rasta, delivered a spectacular performance to wrap up the 2025 edition of FESPACO, one of Africa’s biggest film festivals, held in Burkina Faso.
Headlining the festival’s closing events, Blakk Rasta set the stage ablaze, leaving fans in awe.
His electrifying performances had the crowd fully engaged, with excitement so intense that it was humorously said the fire service ran out of water trying to contain the “harmattan fire.”
On day one (February 27), he performed at the Palais de la Révolution, dressed in a striking Ghana-themed tracksuit and matching shoes. His seamless blend of French lyrics into his set impressed the audience, with songs like Barack Obama and Zantan Bua (Goat Dance) lingering on their lips long after the show.
A newly composed Burkina Faso solidarity song further endeared him to the crowd.
The momentum soared on day two, when Blakk Rasta took over Kwame Nkrumah Avenue, Burkina Faso’s longest avenue. The Herbalist Band delivered a flawless performance, complementing Blakk Rasta’s boundless energy.
Draped in Kente, he effortlessly commanded the stage as the crowd roared for more.
His impact was so profound that Burkina Faso’s Minister of Culture honored Blakk Rasta and his band as the “Most Spectacular Band of FESPACO 2025.”
Following his performance, fans—both local and international—flocked to him for autographs and photos, sealing his status as a festival icon.
FESPACO 2025 will be remembered not just for its celebration of African cinema but also for the unforgettable energy of Blakk Rasta.
